Mother of the Revolution. She endured genital mutilation as a child, and went on to become a medical doctor, psychiatrist, revolutionary author, political prisoner, and champion of equality. Now in her eighties, she has been an integral part of the recent political uprising in Egypt.

Nawal El-Saadawi. Hero, rebel, fighter.
